Pip is this little kid who is expected to do big things for his family. Having a sister who is more like a strict mother to him then a sister that is married to a blacksmith does not have many advantages. He gets the opportunity to be in favor of Miss Havisham,m a rich woman who was abanded on her wedding day. His family does his best to prepare him for each visit so he will win her favor. Miss Havisham has a ward named Estella who is very pretty but harsh toward Pip and his little boyish ways. Visiting Miss Havisham contributes to his great expectations becuase he as this little kid is able to convince this very old and wise lady to keep returning to her mainson for "play". He loses all expectations when he becomes the apprentice of Joe. Since Pip has been going to her house so many times. He takes a liking to a good life and being a gentlemen. He is now sad that he has to carry out his role of being a blacksmith. Untill a lawyer from Lonndon comes a mlong and changes his life.
