Pip and Estella seems like they are always arguing with each other about something but Pip can't seem to tell her that hes in love with her. This takes a huge affect on Pip because he can't do anything else besides thinking about Estella. Estella also has problems of her own. She is being courted by various suitors wanting her hand in marrige. But Miss Havisham only wants her to break mens hearts and is shocked when Estella finally stands up to her. Pip is fianlly broken hearted not by Estella but by his benefactor who gave him a fortune for grattitude of feeding him when Pip was still a little boy. He is just shocked by this peace of news because he belived his benefactor to be Miss Havisham who would want him to marry Estella. Now he has to help the person who scared him to death as a child, a crime punishable by death

Pip is this little kid who is expected to do big things for his family. Having a sister who is more like a strict mother to him then a sister that is married to a blacksmith does not have many advantages. He gets the opportunity to be in favor of Miss Havisham,m a rich woman who was abanded on her wedding day. His family does his best to prepare him for each visit so he will win her favor. Miss Havisham has a ward named Estella who is very pretty but harsh toward Pip and his little boyish ways. Visiting Miss Havisham contributes to his great expectations becuase he as this little kid is able to convince this very old and wise lady to keep returning to her mainson for "play". He loses all expectations when he becomes the apprentice of Joe. Since Pip has been going to her house so many times. He takes a liking to a good life and being a gentlemen. He is now sad that he has to carry out his role of being a blacksmith. Untill a lawyer from Lonndon comes a mlong and changes his life.

Character Developement

Pips older sister seems to me more like a strict mother than an older sister. Pip is not treated well by his sister. She is not very friendly to her husband or to her little brother who is no older than ten years old. She beat people with a cane if they don't behave right. " By this time my sister was quite desperate, so she pounced on Joe, and, taking him by the two whiskers, knocked his head for a little while against the wall behind him: while I sat in the corner, looking guiktily on.
